Located eleven miles outside of Davenport is Polk State College in Winter Haven, Fl. Polk State College offers Bachelor and Associate degrees. The college serves over 20,000 students and has several campuses across Polk County, including campuses in Bartow, Lake Wales, Lakeland, and Winter Haven (main campus). If you hop on I4 and travel east about twenty minutes, you will arrive at one of the most unique, modern buildings in the state of Florida. This is the campus of Florida Polytechnic University. This brand-new university, established in 2012 and opened for instruction in 2014, is one of the most innovative STEM colleges in the country. The field of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) is among the most desired studies for higher education and FPU students thrive on it. With just over 1400 students and around 100 faculty members, this college offers innovative methods of learning with small, hands-on classes. At Florida Polytechnic University students can study computer science, data analytics, computer engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. Within these studies are specializations including cyber gaming, cloud virtualization, machine intelligence, and nano-technology.
